Chess Team Wins 5A State

Congrats to the Chess Team on winning 5A State this past weekend. The team also finished 4th in All Classes.  Individual Placers: Kaleb Waller 61st Noah Maskrid 44th Mauricio Garcia 42nd Derrick Foster 16th Cooper Watkins 8th Great job too Coach Vogel and his team! Chess Team Takes 2nd

The Chess Team was in 4th place going into the last round and had a great finish allowing them to climb into 2nd place.  Cooper Watkins took 2nd overall and Derek Foster placed 3rd. Congrats to the Chess Team! -Coach Smith

Chess Team Wins Collegiate Tournament

The Chess Team came home with the Collegiate Tournament Championship this weekend. Cooper Watkins placed 3rd, Derrick Foster took 4th, Noah Maskrid took 5th and Caleb Waller took 9th. Kekoa Vincent won two matches as well. Great job to Coach Vogel and the Chess Team! -Coach Smith

Chess Competes at Nationals

Mauricio Garcia placed 12th in his section out of over 200 people. Derrick Foster scored 3 points in a very tough division and Cooper Watkins was half a point away from a trophy. Great job guys!!! -Coach Smith

Chess Finishes 2nd at State!

This past weekend the Chess Team competed in 5A State at Emporia State University with a 4 member team made up of Derek Foster, Zak Keith, Mauricio Garcia and Noah Maskrid. They took 2nd to Bishop Carroll. Great job guys!

Chess to Compete At State!

The Chess Team took 2nd place this last weekend with only a 3 man team (top 4 score).  They lost on a tiebreaker to Wichita North.  Derrick Foster took 4th place.  Zak Keith took 10th and Mauricio Garcia took 13th place. This Saturday the Chess Team will compete in 5A State at Emporia State University with

Chess Team Takes 6th

Chess Club sent 3 students to the Holy Cross Tournament.  Derrick Foster went 5-1 and took 6th place out of over 50 students.  Zak Keith and Noah Maskrid both went 3-3 and were just outside of medaling.  The team took 4th out of 10 teams.

New Website!

We have been using our new website some this summer to get our feet wet!  We plan to fully launch on August 18! You will be able to find all the contact information, maps, schedules, scores, photos, etc in one place for 7-12 Activities & Athletics at VCHS & VCMS.  We are updating between now
