Hornets News · Caldwell to Represent Hornets in Kansas Shrine Bowl

Tony Caldwell’s decorated athletic career at Valley Center will feature one final act. Caldwell will take the gridiron as a member of the West Squad to represent the Hornets in the 47th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl Game at Hummer Sport’s Complex in Topeka on July 18th, 2020. Kick off is slated for 7 pm.

Though injured for a portion of his senior season, Caldwell still amassed 37 tackles, 4 for loss yardage, 1 sack, recovered 2 fumbles, caused a fumble and intercepted a pass. Caldwell, an interior defensive linemen, was named second team all league by coaches and recognized as an honorable mention all state player by several media outlets. Caldwell was also recognized as an all-league football player as a junior, was a state runner up wrestler as a sophomore and junior, and a state champion wrestler as a senior.

Caldwell is 1 of 14 Hornets selected to play in the Shrine Bowl dating back to 1995 and the 5th consecutive Hornet dating back to 2016.
