Hornets News · Valley Baseball Splits with Eisenhower

VALLEY CENTER– The Valley Center Hornets Baseball Team bounced back after a tough road sweep early in the week splitting with a solid league opponent, the Eisenhower Tigers.  The Hornets are now 3-5 on the season.

Game 1: Valley 5 Eisenhower 13

The Valley Center Hornets Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Eisenhower, giving up 13 runs.Eisenhower got on the board in the first inning.In the bottom of the third inning, Valley Center Hornets Varsity tied things up at two when an error scored one run for Valley Center Hornets Varsity. After Eisenhower scored two runs in the top of the seventh, Valley answered with two of their own when Gavin Adams singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.  Eisenhower pulled away for good with  eight runs in the fifth inning. Wyatt Hager led things off on the hill for the Hornets. He allowed two hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out two. Adams, Myles Thompson & Bryson Mosher  entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one-third of an inning respectively. Jesse Johnson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Hornets in hits.


Game 2: Valley 2 Eisenhower 1

Both teams were strong on the mound in the night cap, but the Hornets came out on top  2-1. Valley  pitchers allowed just four hits to Eisenhower. In the first inning, the Hornets  got their offense started when Blayne Hightower grounded out, scoring one run. Payton Graham was on the pitcher’s mound and pitched six great innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four. Mackney started the game for Eisenhower. He allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five. Milledge threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Wyatt Jones led Valley Center Hornets Varsity with two hits in two at bats.
